American Foundation For Suicide Prevention
Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. The organization funds research to improve interventions, train clinicians in suicide prevention, and advocate for policy that will save lives. The AFSP team works tirelessly to bring people who have been affected by suicide out of the darkness, and give them opportunities to help others.
Hope is Oxygen is an organization founded my Linda Pulver of Tulsa, Oklahoma that works with families whose lives are forever altered by suicide. Statically, suicide can “cluster” and the Boxes of Hope that are distributed immediately after a family losses a loved one have had profound impacts to those who are in the wake of a suicide. Linda and her dedicated team are committed to reducing the stigma of mental health and suicide and to sharing the hope God gives.
At the Coffee Bunker veterans can make connections with other veterans, representatives from other veteran organizations, resource people related to employment and education, and others who can facilitate transition to civilian life.Veterans can transition to civilian life easier when they have a community for a base. The Coffee Bunker is all about community to support vets. You can experience community in a variety of ways: events, holiday get-togethers, activities like art classes, crafting, and meals, entertainment, and opportunities to volunteer.In attempting to make full transition to civilian life, veterans need support in a variety of ways. Support through the Bunker is available for life basics: food, clothing, and a place to gather. Peer support is available for managing personal issues, being successful in college, finding and keeping employment, family enrichment.
